In-Character Rules
1. No killing other player's without the player's consent. If this happens, there's no warning. The post will be deleted as will the character profile. In terms of battles, tech spec stats are really only there to give a general idea of what the character is good at and what they're not. When characters come in to conflict, the outcomes of the battles--by and large--will be decided by you. PM or IM the player(s) of the characters that yours are interacting with and get an idea of how you want the battle to play out, be it playing it by ear or scripting it out. Entirely up to you. The administrator reserves the right to make an executive decision regarding any conflict if others cannot come to an agreement.
- 1a. On a similar note, do not kill canon characters without receiving admin approval. Even the most obscure canons may be fodder for someone else's story someday. If the admins think it's a workable idea for a canon character to die in the game, we'll give the go ahead.
- 1b. Absolutely NO God-modding. In a general sense, this means a player CANNOT do anything to another player’s character without their permission. This includes Auto hitting, auto dodging, talking for, and/or moving any one’s character(s) besides your own.
2. Act with respect to the other players. This one is approached with the same degree of seriousness as the first rule. Roleplaying should be a positive experience. Leave any personal drama at the door. No one wants to deal with it and I've observed enough to know how to shut it down pretty quick, to the dissatisfaction of one or more instigators.
3. What the Admin says goes. Period. We are very open to dialogue and feedback but at the end of the day if a decision has to be made regarding a character or story--that's it.
4. You can choose a limit of three [3] canon PC characters on this board to begin with. If the administrator of the game sees that you can handle those three, more will be allowed. You can play as many NPCs as you would like, just do so with the knowledge that anyone else can apply for them to be one of their PCs at any time. Sample posts are required for all full-time, PC canon character applications, as well as NPCs whom players wish to add to their full-time PC roster. Original characters are always welcome. The mods will be looking to make sure the stats are reasonable and that the character's history blends with the game. Star Wars is a big universe! You can make it happen.
- 4a. Canons that are inactive for four [4] weeks, without absence notification, will be removed from the player. This will then allow others to apply for said canon.
4b. NPCing characters requires staff permission. If you require one or two characters for a personal plot, and need NPCs to do so, ask the admin about the NPCs in mind. We like players taking the initiative, but we also need to make sure things don't clash.
5. Original Characters [OCs], those that are member created, must remain original. We do not want any rip-offs from other sci-fi series. You can hint at similarities seeing how Star Wars is famous for such a feat, but there’s no dropping in species or tech from anything like Halo, Star Trek, Mass Effect, etc. These characters will be immediately denied, as they aren't original creations but just adapted canons from other sources.
- 5a. Original Characters cannot be related to Canon characters under any circumstances. Additionally, no Original Character can claim history dealings with any Canon Character unless pre-approved by the admin prior to application .
6. When applying for a character here, remember that we're looking for quality role players; ones that will put effort into there RPs and keep up with the board are what matters. We expect more than a one-liner or one post a month. The scenes only keep their momentum if everyone contributes to keeping them going, myself definitely included.
7. Role play as often as your characters are needed. If you're playing a lesser known character, then they obviously don't need to be played as actively as Darth Vader, Han Solo, Yoda, etc. They can be heavily involved in a story and then have some "time off" so to speak. But if they're involved in a thread, it's common courtesy not to leave them hanging for days (or weeks!) between each reply. Just use common sense.
8. If a player has been inactive for longer than a month without posting an absence note in the absence thread, the player's characters will be made available.
9. If you are playing an established Star Wars character, keep their personality and quirks in mind when posting as them. I will give you a lot of leeway, but I don't want to see, for example, Yoda speaking in non-broken sentences while Jabba the Hutt succumbs to his Jedi-mind Tricks for the sake of a laugh. There is a line between putting a new twist on a character and redefining the character entirely--making them, effectively, a fanmade. It's a subjective line, but you'll have to trust that we know where it is.
10. Please keep other players in mind when posting in group threads, and retain a rough posting order. Not everyone can reply as quickly, and players should be willing to give others a turn at posting. If you find the thread slowing down due to waiting, run with an unofficial 24-hour rule, just to keep things active.
11. Pretty basic. Pretty straightforward. Almost entirely common sense. Join up and have a blast!
Out-of-Character (OOC) Rules
1. Remain civil to one another; we don't like drama, and we won't hesitate to remove the source of the problem. Happy players are good players!
2. We are a [mostly] PG to PG-13 community, which means are no sexually explicit content between characters; if you find yourself in that situation, simply 'fade to black'.
- 2a. We allow a degree of violence, given the genre, but please keep it appropriate to the character/s. While we expect to see such violence through Lightsaber combat or a blaster shootout, don’t go over the top with gory details. Leave the hack-and-slash to the horror movies.
- 2b. Also, keep the language appropriate for the character in question; some characters use coarse language, others do not. And by coarse, I mean don’t go about dropping F-Bombs. Like, at all.
3. Religion, sex and politics are touchy subjects; remember everyone has an opinion, and we should respect their beliefs. Tread these subjects accordingly, minding the other written rules regarding sexually explicit material.
4. While we don't expect novellas in all posts, please keep a reasonable length to your RPing. One-liners can be useful to push a thread along every so often, but not all the time.
5. Staff are people, too; we have lives, and we will help you as soon as we possibly can. PMing or posting for our attention will probably result in additional stress, which we don't particularly want.
Cantina Rules
1. Keep the language appropriate. We're not a convent, but we don't want to see the Cantina filled with brazen cussing and swearing, just for the heck of it. A word here or there is fine, but let's not go overboard.
2. Try to refrain from trolling members; it's not amusing, and it tends to go too far. A bit of joking around is fine, but know when to draw the line. Also, try to keep text-speak, or other such abbreviated/altered forms, out of the conversation.
3. Links to adult-orientated material will result in an instant, permanent ban.
4. Remain guest friendly; we want people to ask questions, even if you might get annoyed. They have a right to the Lounge Area, too.
5. No advertising in the Cantina.
6. Members who cause excess drama will have their cbox privileges removed, for an amount of time dependent on the staff member.
7. Have fun!
